TOSI-lab Group intervention based on Expressive Art Therapy
TOSI-labra is a workshop model based on expressive arts and art therapy methods that support young people’s holistic wellbeing, self-reflection, and sense of agency. The programme theory behind Tosi-lab’s activities is based on Otto Sharmers theory of U.
The process is designed especially for and with young adults who face challenges in engaging in education or working life, often due to mental health issues or difficulties with coping and motivation.
Group work and non-performative, embodied activities offer tools for understanding one’s life situation, encouraging creativity, and managing stress. The process helps young people identify and reflect their strengths and explore meaningful future pathways.
Participatory art projects can support has positive effects on the participants experienced social inclusion: the feeling of agency and sens the of belonging. The arts-based approach lowers the threshold for participation and helps create a safe, inclusive space.
Tosi-lab was developed in a ESF-funded project Art, Inclusion and Social Innovation (2021–2023) with the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), the City of Tampere’s Ohjaamo youth guidance center, Culture Centre PiiPoo, Artists and Young participants. To date, 20 TOSI-processes have been implemented.
